Western Township Utility Authority

Project Date:
April 1996 to Present

The Western Township Utility Authority is made up of three townships: Canton, Northville and Plymouth. The WTUA operates and maintains more than 27 miles of interceptors, 20 miles of force mains and two equalization basins. Martin Control Services developed a preventative maintenance program for the WTUA interceptor flow meters in 1996. Since then, Martin Control Services has been responsible for maintaining, calibrating, verifying, and repairing 41 meters that are used to bill the member communities for system usage. Martin Control Services also maintains the data acquisition system for these meters, as well as the communication equipment. Data collected by this project has also been used to help design the expansion of the Ypsilanti Community Utility Authority wastewater treatment facilities.

"Martin Controls has been regularly servicing our flow meters for almost 15 years. This service program has dramatically increased the reliability of the meters, as well as improved the quality of data obtained, and allowed us to bring the data analysis in-house." Aaron Sprague, Director of Operations, Western Township Utility Authority
